Silent Killer Diseases

Basically, a "silent killer" disease is one that produces little or no symptoms. They are unfortunately common as often even doctors can miss them. Probably the most comon silent killers diseases are heart disease, hypertension and diabetes. One can have any one of these (or more than one) and never have a clue. Heart disease is the number one silent killer disease. The main risk factors for heart disease are hypertension, smoking, sedentary lifestyle and raised cholesterol. There are also other lesser known silent killer diseases that include primary amyloidosis, Renal cell cancer , pancreatic cancer, Hepatitis B or C infection to name a few. Cancer, in particular, as group is the next biggest silent killer.Estimated deaths in a year due to cancer is 6.2 million. Lung Cancer and Mesothelioma are two silent killer diseases like. Smoking causes 87% of lung cancers and Mesothelioma, which is due to inhalation of asbestos fibers is a very lethal cancer. Diabetes affects more tha 200 million people world wide and this number seems to be on the increae. Many of those who have this silent killer have no clue that they are ill. More than 3.2 people die every year due to the silent killer known as diabetes. Liver infection from Hepatitis B and C viruses are also silent killer diseases. They can cause cirrhosis, liver cancer and death. Both these viruses have infected almost 530 million people world wide. Every year there are 3 to 4 million people who are newly infected by the viruses.
